From long-awaited sequels to historical epics, 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year for big studio films. Here is our official watch list of movies we absolutely cannot wait to see in the new year.

Moana (Live-Action)

Our favorite wayfinder is set to return to the big screen in the new live-action reimagining, which sees Catherine Laga‘aia taking on the titular role alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returning as Maui.

Michael

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, this highly anticipated biopic stars Jaafar Jackson as his iconic uncle, Michael Jackson, tracking the King of Pop’s journey from the Jackson 5 to global superstardom.

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Twenty long years after the original became a favorite, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt return for a fashionably late sequel, in which Streep’s Miranda Priestly character navigates the decline of traditional magazine publishing.

The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s take on Homer’s Greek epic is a must-see. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the film follows him on the perilous, decade-long journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War, facing mythical beasts, gods, and temptations.

Dune: Part Three

We’re on the last chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s breathtaking trilogy, based on the famous novel. Seeing how stunning the first two films were, we’re ready to go back to the sands of Arrakis for what is sure to be an epic, emotional conclusion.

Toy Story 5

The entire toy gang is back, and this time, they’re facing the challenge of the modern age of electronics and digital distractions. We’re curious to see how this Pixar favorite continues to evolve its heartfelt themes for the new generation.

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender

This feature follows Aang and his friends as young adults, picking up years after the beloved Nickelodeon series ended. Undoubtedly one of the most critically acclaimed animated stories of all time, the movie will surely have us glued to our seats when it’s released on Paramount+ in October.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

This prequel highlights the 50th Hunger Games, the second Quarter Quell. It follows a young, 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy and his harrowing victory in the arena, long before he became the cynical mentor to the heroine we know and love.

Super Mario Galaxy

The first movie was a smash hit, and we’re predicting the same for this cosmic sequel, which introduces Rosalina and the vastness of space waiting to be explored. The vibrant, gravity-defying adventure makes for a Spring must-see.

Avengers: Doomsday

We’re in a new MCU era as the Russo Brothers are set to return to direct this massive crossover featuring Robert Downey Jr. as the villainous Doctor Doom. We’re just as hyped as you to see how the Avengers and the Fantastic Four team to face this multiversal threat in what is sure to be another monster theatrical event.
